Kady, Eric, Kyle and Guests are here to talk about how Nonviolent Communication (NVC) can be implemented into your daily lives. NVC is a communication modality developed by Marshall Rosenberg. It focuses on compassion, empathy, observations, feelings, needs & requests in order to connect with others on a deeper level. Marshall has used NVC in high intensity conflicts over seas and he talks about how powerful it is to use.
We will discuss topics all across the board and how NVC can be used in various situations. I hope we can engage you in our practice and I hope you will want to learn and spread the love of NVC like we do. There isn't a way to upload the feelings and needs chart yet. Feeling FUNdamental with Eric Haung
ORBISCULATE!!! Eric was saying forbisculate and it made me laugh while editing. He didn't quite hear it over the zoom call. Eric and I are feeling FUNdamental today and going to talk about how the awareness of our own feelings first, is the foundation to nonviolent communication. If we don’t know how to be attuned to how it is that our body feeling and what our heart is feeling it makes it challenging to understand how others are feeling. Self-empathy comes first and with that is the conscious awareness of how we feel on the inside. Noticing when an external experience stimulates us, what we are feeling and what is going on inside of us helps us connect deeper with ourselves.
Eric has been on our podcast a couple times before. Eric is filling in for Kyle as my co-host for several weeks as Kyle is preparing for his big move to Colorado. Here is a little about Eric:
Eric Huang attended a NVC International Intensive Training thinking he knew everything about NVC after reading 1/3 of the book and watching one Marshall video 3 times. By the end of the 9 day residential training he knew nothing. Today, the 5 seconds after thinking he knows something, the universe reminds him he still knows nothing. Sigh.
Eric is a Licensed Professional Civil Engineer in the State of California, earned an M.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering, has an MBA, and has worked in Silicon Valley in High Tech Marketing for 20 years on something called USB.
